"My horse has a long term problem with muscle wastage and weakness in her off hind all around her pelvis area. During the Winter when it is more difficult to sustain regular work, she does get stiff and her topline becomes poor. "Tara is an Irish Sport Horse with loads of Irish Spirit and very few manners - likes to be out there doing it!, little time for all the niceties of grooming, TLC or chilling round the stable yard! Feed me, water me, work me then leave me alone!!!
However over the summer her character changed following an incident in the stable where she caught her front foot in a hay net and in her efforts to release the foot, she cut both front legs and pulled the ring fitting off the wall. After a months rest she came back into work but was not a happy girl – ears flat back, wasn’t tracking up, stiff on one rein in particular and looked miserable. Teeth and saddle checking was done and the vet thought a bout of physio might help to release the tightness in her back and neck.
But before the physio came I found Equimagnets™ on the internet whilst investigating magnotherapy. I have already used magnetic boots with great success; magnetic bracelets on both my husband and mother again with wonderful results so thought a magnetic rug kit might help the horse with her tightness. There was such a choice of products on the internet and Kerry’s site offered the biggest variety so I rang her for advice. Within 48 hours my rug kit arrived.
It didn’t take long to sew the Velcro in places along a summer sheet I had and Tara’s treatment started – 4 hour sessions at a time, increased over 4 days until she was wearing the rug overnight. After less than a week she began to bounce about the yard wanting to be noticed, driving her companions (and me) mad with her mischievous antics and boisterous carryon. Her ridden work is better than ever and she seems ready to take the world by storm.
I am convinced that without the Equimagnets rug kit, that her improvement would not have been as dramatic and because she is not a horse who likes pampered it was an easy way to give her TLC without the fuss of working around her.
