The new Combi Pro is a unique rug that provides both sequenced Pulsed Electromagnetic and Massage therapy to the horse. By enhancing venous blood flow, this combination of therapies can be used on many equine problems and conditions as well as having great results when used on a pre-warm-up program before exercise and a recovery program after exercise. What’s more, the Combi Pro rug treats the whole of the horse from the top of the neck to the tip of the tail and now the shoulders and stifle.

The Combi Pro system ensures complete stimulation. It is made from high quality materials chosen to enable practical use either in the stable or outside at competitions in all weather conditions. The rug is lightweight, robust and cool being available in either the traditional Goretex and Mesh or full Mesh. The rug contains:

• 14 powerful cyclonic massage modules
• 19 pulsed electromagnetic spools.

The control box is fitted neatly and securely to the rug and comes with long lasting batteries which have no memory effect so can be recharged as often as you like. The complete rug cover is totally removable and machine washable. The Laser system can be run from the same control box. The 4 important factors for successful therapy sessions are Intensity, Frequency, Duration and Combination of Treatments. The Combi+System enables all 4 to be regulated and combined.

Having used the Activo-Med Combi System for over 2 years now I can honestly say it’s worth the investment 10 times over! Whilst the Activo-Med systems are excellent for rehabilitation, I use the pulsed electromagnetic and massage rug on all the horses both before they are worked to loosen and relax their muscles and after to aid the recovery process. The magnetic element of the system is particularly effective and the Combi Pro has become a very important part of our daily routine for optimising each horse’s performance. The systems are easy to use, breathable, lightweight and horse-friendly.

I also use the Activo-Med Lasers regularly and find them vital for speeding up the healing process on knocks, bruises and strains plus they are great for maintaining old injuries. We use them regularly as part of our physiotherapy process on the acupressure points in areas prone to strain.

The Activo-Med systems are extremely versatile. Like people, every horse is slightly different and these systems can be easily set up to suit individual horses, giving them all the opportunity to perform at their best. It’s a system that definitely won’t sit in the cupboard forgotten.

HOW IT WORKS
The system contains 5 lines of strategically placed PEMF spools and 5 lines of massage modules. The control box on the rug activates these lines in the sequence of 1-2-3-5-4 (see picture at the top) giving a high support of the venous blood flow to the heart in conformity to the blood circulation and the lymphatic system. One control box operates both applications in one combined therapy session. You only have to choose one of the 8 preset programme sequences and the multi-session starts leaving you free to carry out other tasks without having to stand with the horse.

COMPONENTS
The Control Box
The Combi+System is operated with a specially designed multi-function control box based on the latest micro processor technology. Together with the lightweight battery unit, the control box is put in a small plastic wallet and secured directly on the top of the rug.

This one control box operates the:

The programmable microprocessor offers a large range of options to create individual therapy programs. The therapy time, frequency and intensity can be easily changed. Even the duration of each individual massage line can be adjusted.

The PEMF spools and massage modules in the blanket, boots and probe connect to the back of the central control unit which plugs into the battery. The battery has a simple on/off button and lasts for approximately 15-20 treatments before recharging is required.

The Rug
The Combi+System rug with integrated neck part ensures complete stimulation. It is made from high quality materials chosen to enable practical use either in the stable or outside at competitions in all weather conditions. The rug is lightweight, robust and cool: the cover is made from Goretex or fully mesh, depending on your preference, which allows air to circulate through the blanket during treatments and the sides are made from strong double sewn mesh. It has 5 fully adjustable clips, belly straps and a tail strap to ensure a snug and secure fit. 

PEMF Boots
The boots are made from Goretex and fix to the leg like a travel boot using elastic Velcro. They cover from the sensitive part of the hoof up to the carpal joint. They are easy to use and offer a wide spectrum of treatment. Each boot contains 4 magnetic spools and works using the same principle as the rug: the 4 magnetic spools work in conformity to the natural flow of the blood- and lymph-lines in the legs. They are activated from the outside down to the inside up in the sequence 1-2-3-4 (see picture). Hind leg wraps are now also available.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy (PEMF) uses a range of frequencies and intensities to stimulate different cells in the body. This helps to promote cells with different functions to work more efficiently. The effectiveness of PEMF therapy has been FDA approved and is widely used by well-known organisations such as the NHS.

All electromagnetic fields are charged with energy generated by electric current: where current flows, magnetism develops.

The components are put directly on the horse’s body. The PEMF rug, boots and probe contain copper spools that create magnetic fields with electric power supplied by the battery provided.

The equipment comes in a robust carrying bag for storage and transportation.

The 4 important factors for successful therapy sessions are:

1. Intensity (Tesla)
2. Frequency (Hertz)
3. Time/duration (minutes)
4. Combination of treatments.

The Combi+System enables these 4 factors to be regulated and combined with each other.

When not to use PEMF

• During pregnancy
• Severe fungal diseases
• Epilepsy
• Fever and tumour developments.

CLEANING
Stables and horses are not terribly clean. Don’t worry! The rug and boots are washable at 30 degrees C. The components are self-contained and are easily removed for washing.

The equipment should be stored and operated in a dry place.
